On the night of 30 January 2011, she and her family disappeared with all family members, and the members were mother, Shelina, Sister Zara, and Hashmina, brother Imran. They drove out of Mumbai and spent a holiday in Igatpuri, 126 km north of Mumbai. The journey started on 9 February 2011. Laila’s mother talked with her sister Albana Patel and told her she was with her third husband, ‘Pervez Iqbal Tak’ in Chandigarh. But after that, they vanished without any trace or clue. Then Laila’s biological father, Nadir Shah, filed a complaint in Mumbai Police Station that her daughter had gone missing other family members. Bollywood director Rakesh Sawant filed the same complaint. That time Laila was shooted her second film with Jinnat before she disappeared. Then Laila’s father again appealed to Bombay High Court in July 2012 to seek his daughter’s murder case transferred NIA from Crime Branch. At first, Police thought her stepfather Parvez Tak was a suspected member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and her mother’s second husband Asif was behind their disappearance. Parvez was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police on 21 June 2012, and Asif was arrested from Bengaluru. After arresting Tak, he reacted like his family members were still alive. Tak changed his statements again and again. When he changed his statement for the third time in front of the Crime Branch, his wife Shelina humiliated him and built relationships with other men. He assured that he killed Laila and her family’s five members and buried their bodies in Igatpuri Bungalow. Her third father was also related to the case, and he also shot Khan and her family. At last, police found six buried bodies behind the Igatpuri Bungalow and assured them it was Laila and her family members.
