Mohanlal is an actor, singer, and producer from India. He was born in the Kerala town of Elanthoor Pathanamthitta to Vishwanathan Nair, a lawyer who later became the state’s law secretary, and Shanthakumari, a housewife.
He was raised in his mother’s home in Trivandrum. He went to Mudavanmukal LP school before enrolling at Trivandrum’s Model School. He earned a bachelor’s degree. He received his bachelor’s degree from Trivandrum’s Mahatma Gandhi College. Later on, he married Suchitra.
Mohanlal first film was Thiranottam (1978). In 1980, his debut came in the part of the antagonist in Manjil Virinja Pookkal. Mohanlal was credited in almost 25 feature films in 1983. With Priyadarshan’s directorial debut, Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, in 1984, he moved into humorous parts. For the film Onnanam Kunnil, he recorded his debut song in 1985.
In 1986, Mohanlal got his first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his role in T. P. Balagopalan M.A. with Sathyan Anthikad.
